About the A. L. Moore Classic

The A. L. Moore Classic is a charity golf tournament established in the name and honour of the late Arthur L. Moore. This year is the third annual tournament proceeds will be donated to the ECF in support of the new Canadian milestone initiative created by The Cancer Research Society in recognition of A. L. Moore’s commitment to the environment and passion to raise awareness about environmental exposure and the link to cancer.

A. L. Moore was resident of Churchill Ontario and an International Organizer for the Sheet Metal Workers Association. He was a devoted husband to Carol a proud father of Brian, Randy, Sharon, Jeff and Clive and a loving grandfather to Mathew, Jessica, Sarah, Stephanie, Austin, Andrée and Alyssa


What is the Environment-Cancer Fund (ECF)?

The Environment-Cancer Fund (ECF) is a new groundbreaking fundraising initiative created by The Cancer Research Society to support research into the links between exposure in everyday life to carcinogens in our environment(s) and the development of cancer.

The ECF’s multidisciplinary approach will foster research collaboration and creativity to fund studies in epidemiology, virology, nutrition and other areas and support scientists and scientific research and fact finding to help policy makers and individual Canadians and their families to make informed decisions about their environments.

The ECF was created by The Cancer Research Society, is guided by a national Advisory Board and awards grants to Canadian cancer scientists that are reviewed by a distinguished panel of scientific experts.
